計數符號（Tally Mark）是在數學統計中經常用到的一種符號。 我們先把計數符號寫成五個一組的線條，前面四個是直的，第五個是橫斜的並與前四條直線交叉連接。 設計這套工作紙主要希望小朋友透過不同的數學訓練加強數感，小朋友能夠以不同的方式去數數和運算。
使用計數標記（Tally Mark）來統計或計算一組物件的數量，目的是讓小朋友理解一個標記(一畫)等於一個物件(1的數量)，同時教他們如何將計數標記（Tally Mark）組成5以成為另一個標記。
小朋友在學習如何用計數符號（Tally Mark）做記號之前，應該先掌握一對一的對應關係，即他們能夠將一個物體與另一個物體相配，明白數量相等的概念。
